Understanding SCORM

What is SCORM?

SCORM (Shareable Content Object Reference Model) is a technical standard for eLearning. It ensures smooth communication between online learning content and Learning Management Systems (LMSs).

What Does a SCORM File Look Like?

SCORM files are packaged as ZIP files, e.g., file_name.zip, created using eLearning authoring tools.

When Should I Use SCORM?

You should use SCORM if:

  • You’ve purchased SCORM-compatible courses.

  • You’re migrating SCORM courses to Learnster.

  • You’re creating courses with an eLearning authoring tool.

Pros and Cons of SCORM

Advantages

  • Works across multiple LMSs.

  • Supports third-party content creation tools.
