The Course Translator enables course creators and content admins to automatically translate existing courses into multiple languages using AI. This removes the manual burden of localizing content and helps organizations scale learning across global teams faster.

With just a few clicks, you can generate a translated version of your course — directly from the Studio — and manage it alongside your original material.


With the Course Translator, you can:

  • Translate text content into multiple languages using AI (images, videos, and other non-text content are not translated, they are retained as-is).

  • Choose from a wide range of languages to localize your learning materials for diverse audiences.

  • Easily manage translated courses as "child courses" visually linked to the original.

  • Filter courses by language in Studio and Learnster U for efficient management.

Getting Started with the Course Translator

Step 1: Access the Translation Tool

  1. Go to Studio in Learnster.

  2. Locate the course you want to translate.

  3. Click the "…" (More options) menu on the course card.

  4. Select "Translate course".

Step 2: Choose Languages

In the translation modal:

  1. Select one or multiple target languages from the available list. Each option is displayed with a checkbox and a corresponding flag.

  2. Review the tooltip that explains limitations:

    “This tool only translates text. Please review your course after translation.”

Step 3: Translation Progress

  • Once started, the translation runs asynchronously.

  • A progress bar is shown for each selected language.

  • You can continue working in Learnster while the translation processes in the background.

Step 4: Managing Translated Courses

Once translations are complete:

  • Each translated course appears in the Studio catalog as a Draft.

  • Translated versions are displayed as child courses, visually connected to the original course.

  • Child courses have a flag-based language indicator and their own:

    • Settings

    • Enrollments

    • Course statistics

Best practices for using Course Translator:

  • Always review AI-translated content, especially when tone or cultural nuance matters.

  • Review the content that is excluded from translation process such as images, videos etc, and update if necessary in the translated course.


Language Tagging and Filtering

To streamline discovery and organization:

  • All translated courses are automatically tagged with a language indicator.

  • You can also manually tag existing courses by going to the Information tab in the course editor.

  • Language filters are available in both Studio and Learnster U.

  • Only courses with assigned language tags appear in filtered results.

Known limitations

These are known limitations in the current version of Course Translation functionality:

  • Course Translator only translates text. Images, videos, and other non-text contents are not translated, they are retained as-is in the translated course.

  • Resources that are attached to the original course are not translated.

  • Course library attached to the original course is not translated.
