Parent courses let you group related child courses together — for example, different language versions of the same course — and see their combined learner stats in one place. 📚
Assign a parent to a course
Any existing course can be assigned to a parent course. The parent course is created automatically when you assign it for the first time.
In Studio, go to Courses.
Hover over the course you want to add to a parent group and click the ... (Options) button on the right.
Click Change parent.
Select an existing parent course from the list, or create a new one.
Save your changes.
Once assigned, the course appears indented under its parent group in the course list, and the parent row shows aggregated stats across all child courses.
The parent course panel
Click the parent course name in the list to open its detail panel. The panel has three tabs:
Courses tab
Shows all child courses as cards. Each card displays the course status, language, and individual stats (learners, completion %, likes, comments). You can sort child courses using the Sort by button.
Each child course card also has a ... (Options) menu with actions including:
Change parent — move this course to a different parent group
Remove from parent — detach the course from the parent group
Translate course — create a translated version linked to this parent
Learners tab
Shows a flat list of all learners enrolled across every child course. The table includes the child course name, learner name and email, any notes, and enrollment date. You can search participants and export the list.
Settings tab
Contains one setting:
Bundle courses in the catalog — when enabled, all child courses are grouped under the parent course in the learner catalog, rather than appearing as separate entries. See Course Bundles for details on how this looks for learners.
Remove a course from a parent group
In Studio, go to Courses.
Click the ... (Options) button on the child course row.
Click Remove from parent.
The course returns to the main course list as a standalone entry. If it was the last child course in the group, the parent course is removed from the list automatically.
