What is Learnster in Microsoft Copilot?
Learnster has an MCP (Model Context Protocol) connection that brings your learning content to where your people already work. Learners can add Learnster as a source in Microsoft Copilot and ask questions about your content directly in Copilot chat, without opening Learnster first.
A natural extension of AI search. Through the MCP, learners reach the same information they can find with AI-powered Search in Learnster.
Same permissions. Learners connect with their own Learnster account, and the MCP follows the same access rules as AI search. People only see what they already have access to.
Available in the Copilot marketplace. Learnster is listed in the Microsoft Copilot marketplace and can be added as a source in Copilot chat.
ℹ️ The MCP is available for all customers on the Core plan. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager for more information.
Add Learnster in Copilot (for learners)
Open Microsoft Copilot Chat, on web or in the app.
Navigate to settings - sources, and find "Learnster for Copilot" in the Copilot marketplace.
Add Learnster as a source.
Sign in with your own Learnster account when prompted. The same log-in alternatives are available as in the usual log-in flow to Learnster. If you are already logged in, this step will be skipped.
If prompted, choose vendor. Then click accept.
Ask a question in Copilot chat, for example "What is our time off policy?". Copilot answers using the Learnster content you have access to. Sources are cited with direct links to the course or page where the information was found.

What content Copilot can reach
The MCP uses the same rules as AI search:
By default, learners get content from courses they're enrolled in, plus metadata about other courses in the catalog.
If a Super Admin turns on Course content visibility (Studio → Settings → General → Course content visibility), learners get course content from all courses in the catalog, whether they're enrolled or not. Courses excluded from AI search with the course-level setting are also excluded from the MCP.
Courses outside a learner's access are never surfaced.
Good to know
Answers are generated by Copilot. Copilot writes the answer based on content Learnster returns. Learners should check important information, especially policies, compliance and safety-related content, in the course itself. Copilot cites which course or page the answer is based on, and provides links back to the original source.
Content coverage matches AI search. Text-based course content is covered: text within course pages, descriptions and syllabi.
