This release brings Learnster to where your people already work. Learnster's new MCP lets learners reach your learning content directly in Microsoft Copilot, with the same access as in AI search. AI search itself now ranks every result by relevance, is available in the Learnster U app and can be opened up to your whole catalog. For admins, new overviews show what's happening at a glance, and generating reports no longer keeps you stuck on one page.
Here's what's new:
Learnster in Microsoft Copilot. With Learnster's new MCP, learners can add Learnster as a source in Copilot and get answers from the same content they can reach in AI search.
AI search: one ranked list, now live. Exact and contextual matches now appear together in a single list, with the most relevant result first.
AI search in the Learnster U app. Learners can now use AI search on mobile, with the same ranked results as on the web.
AI search across the whole catalog. A new setting gives AI search access to content from every course in the catalog, not just the ones a learner is enrolled in. Individual courses can be excluded.
One-click start for open courses. If a catalog course has no seat limit, price or other restriction, learners click "Start" and go straight into the content.
Dashboard for external certificates. A new dashboard in Analytics shows how large a share of certificates are about to expire.
See how many users a rule affects. Check how many users a rule will reach before you run it, so you know it targets the right people.
New data points in the course report. You can now see the course created date, course modified date and last completed date.
Enrollment report permissions. The enrollment report can now be controlled for permissions and content like the other standard reports.
Studio in Swedish and German. Admins and course creators can now work in Studio in their own language.
Default completion image. Set one completion image for all courses. It can be your own image or none at all, and you can still override it per course.
Download center. Reports and certificates now generate in the background, so you can keep working and download them from one place when they're ready.
đ Rollout starts on the 9th of November. If you have any questions or would like specific details about when your environment will be updated, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager.
Learnster in Microsoft Copilot
Learnster now has an MCP, so your learning content is available where your people already work. Learners can add Learnster as a source in Microsoft Copilot and ask questions about your content directly in Copilot chat.
A natural extension of AI search. Through the MCP, learners can reach the same information they can find with AI search in Learnster.
Same permissions. Learners connect with their own Learnster account, and the MCP follows the same access rules as AI search. People only see what they already have access to.
Find it in the Copilot marketplace. Learnster is available in the Microsoft Copilot marketplace and can be added as a source in Copilot chat.
AI search: one ranked list of results, now live
Search results are now gathered in a single list ordered by relevance, so the best match always comes first.
One list. Exact matches and contextual matches no longer appear separately. They are combined into one list.
Ranked by relevance. A reranker orders the results so the most relevant one appears first, whatever type of match it is.
Give AI search access to all course content
A new setting lets AI search draw on content from every course in your catalog. This helps learners find answers in courses they haven't enrolled in yet. The setting also applies to Learnster's MCP.
Default behaviour (unchanged). Learners get content from courses they're enrolled in, plus metadata about other courses in the catalog.
With the new setting on. Learners get course content from all courses in the catalog, whether they're enrolled or not.
Exclude specific courses. A course-level setting lets you keep selected courses out of AI search.
Who can change it. Super Admins.
Where to find it. Settings > General > Course content visibility.
One-click start for open courses
Starting an open course is now quicker. If a course is in the catalog and has no participant limit, price or other restriction, learners go straight into the course content.
"Register" is now "Start". The button on these courses has a new label.
No extra steps. Clicking "Start" enrolls the learner and takes them directly to the content.
Tracked as usual. The enrollment shows up in reporting, and learners can easily find the course again from their start page.
See how many users a rule affects
You can now check how many users a rule applies to before you run it. That way you know it reaches the people you intended before anything happens.
Set up, check, run. Create the rule, check the number of affected users, then run it.
Smart enrollment and catalog access. The number of affected users shows right away.
Advanced rules. The number can take a little while to calculate, so it may not appear immediately.
Updated when you check. The number is calculated when you ask for it. Check again to see the latest count.
Studio in Swedish and German
Studio is now available in Swedish and German as well as English.
Where to change it. Choose your language in the footer of the course list in Studio, which is the page you land on when you log in.
What stays in English.
Data fields in reports are still in English.
Role names are not translated.
Keeping these consistent makes it easier for colleagues who work in different languages to collaborate.
Download center
Generating reports and certificates can take time. You can still stay on the page and the file downloads automatically when it's ready, just like before. Now you can also leave the page and keep working. The file is prepared in the background, and you pick it up in the new download center.
Stay or leave, your choice. Stay on the page and the download starts automatically, as before. Leave, and the file keeps generating in the background.
Track progress. The download center shows the status of the reports and certificates you generate.
Only your own files. You see the reports you've generated, and the certificates that belong to you. Certificates you download on someone else's behalf, for example while using View as, don't appear in your download center.
How long files are kept.
Reports are available for 30 days.
Certificates stay available unless your organization's retention rules remove them.
Where to find it. In your personal menu, the icon with your name or picture in the bottom left corner.
Also in this release

Dashboard for external certificates. A new dashboard in Analytics shows how large a share of uploaded external certificates are about to expire, so you can follow up in time.
Default completion image. Set one completion image for all courses: one of the existing images, your own, or none at all. Individual courses can still use a different image.
New data points in the course report. The course report now includes course created date, course modified date and last completed date.
Enrollment report permissions. You can now control permissions and content for the enrollment report the same way as for other standard reports.
Bug fixes and improvements
Scheduled event notifications. Participants who have already completed a course are now notified when new scheduled events are added. This applies when the course completion criteria is set to Static and/or Manual approval.
Multi-events. Fixed an issue where multi-events were blocked when course navigation was set to Restricted.
